James Fleming
BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy MCSP & SRP

James qualified as a physiotherapist from Wits University in 1994 and then spent 4 years working with Greg MacKenzie at Kings Park Sports Medicine Centre in Durban, South Africa. He worked predominantly with musculoskeletal and sports injuries focussing mainly on road running and rugby.

James was the physio for the Natal u21’s and Wildebeest and assisted the Sharks in their Currie Cup campaigns between 1995 and 1998. He also toured Ireland with the Natal Duikers in 1995, Wales with the Natal u21’s in 1996 and Australia with the Natal 7’s in 1997. James relocated to London in November 1998 and spent 2 years working in private practice and 2 seasons with London Irish rugby club. He set up his own private practice in Putney in June 2002. On June 1st 2004 he opened the doors of PhysioSW19 in Wimbledon.

James maintains his close links with SA rugby, and recently worked with the SA Rugby Legends on their tour to Scotland in September 2008. James is a member of the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Sports Medicine and is currently developing his skills in diagnostic ultrasound scanning.

James’ interests include sports and the outdoors. Besides his 6 seasons of working with pro rugby teams, he coached Bank of England rugby club in London in 2002/3. He completed 25 marathons, with a personal best of 3 hours (and 48 seconds!), including 5 Comrades and 2 London Marathons where he raised money for endangered African wildlife. James is a keen skier and spent the winter of 1998-99 working as a ski-guide in Saalbach, Austria. He loves his cricket, and plays for the Green Mambas.

James is married to Geraldine and has two children, Gus and Leila.
